Filterly is the soon to be released creation of Paul Dix with design help from the fabulous team at Mint Digital (don't worry, this is just temporary). Here's the short pitch:
There is a flood of information, news, and opinions coming online every minute. Ten years ago the problem was about search: finding something relevant for a particular informational need. Now the problem is about filtering out what you don't need while staying informed on a subject.
Filterly is designed to create a qualitative filter for topics and subjects of interest. It combines editorial selection with social voting (like Digg) with intelligent aggregation algorithms (like Techmeme and Google News) to filter out information based on topics. It's kind of like creating your own intelligent aggregator with a big difference. Filterly places the power of creation and editorial control of these topics where it belongs: with the users.
Along the way I'm writing about the development experience on my blog. Everything goes under the project's code name of Tahiti. You can also follow me on twitter.
You'll be my best friend if you add to the list of feeds that Filterly tracks by uploading your opml.
